The legal battle over Norfolk Southern’s plan to put an intermodal rail yard in Montgomery County centers on whether the twenty-six million dollars Virginia wants to spend on the project would benefit the public or the railroad.

Cowan Tunnel

The Heartland Corridor is — or will be — a rail line running from Virginia’s ports in Hampton Roads to Ohio that can handle trains of double-stacked containers. Here’s a link to some video of one of the tunnels being prepared to handle the taller trains.
